    My friend is struggling.
the guy I work with that came in Friday and that I have known for 4 years but havent seen in 3 and a half years.
His name is Corey and he has a drinking problem.
He is married and has an 18 month old and possibly has another baby on the way.
I love him like a brother even though I do not know him all that well.
We just clicked and get along really well.
His wife is very nice and loves him a lot.
    They are both having issues.
Unfortunatly his way of dealing with problems is to drink.
I just got off the fona-fone with him and his wife.
He is going to take a nap and try to get to work and she is going to try calling people and get him a ride so he doesn't have to take a bus.
I really want to see them both be happy and I want to see him be sober.
I do not know what to do.
I used to get drunk and give them horrible marriage counsoling whenever he would come hide at my place for fighting with her or when she would come over crying about something that he said or did.
They are both very good listeners and I think they are open-minded.
I am unsure how to approach this and try to help them.
Today I think I will take my AA book to work and give to him. I can get another one.
I was thinking of taking my labradorite crystal and giving to him too.
I am doing pretty good right now and I think that I can handle myself and stop myself if I have the urge to use.
I too am struggling with drinking but I have gotten so much better at it.
Hopefully I can help him find happiness.
I love these 2 and I want to hang out with them again.
    I love you guys too.
Does anyone have any advice on how to approach a self proclaimed "problem drinker" and convince him he is an alcoholic and help him find happiness in recovery?

    Symptoms of a spiritual awakening
    Page 148

"The steps lead to an awakening of a spiritual nature. This awakening is evidenced by changes in our lives."

    Basic Text, p. 49

We know how to recognize the disease of addiction. Its symptoms are indisputable. Besides an uncontrollable appetite for drugs, those suffering exhibit self-centered, self-seeking behavior. When our addiction was at its peak of activity, we were obviously in a great deal of pain. We relentlessly judged ourselves and others, and spent most of our time worrying or trying to control outcomes.

Just as the disease of addiction is evidenced by definite symptoms, so is a spiritual awakening made manifest by certain obvious signs in a recovering addict. We may observe a tendency to think and act spontaneously, a loss of interest in judging or interpreting the actions of anyone else, an unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment, and frequent attacks of smiling.

If we see someone exhibiting symptoms of a spiritual awakening, we should be aware that such awakenings are contagious. Our best course of action is to get close to these people. As we begin having frequent, overwhelming episodes of gratitude, an increased receptiveness to the love extended by our fellow members, and an uncontrollable urge to return this love, we'll realize that we, too, have had a spiritual awakening.

Just for Today: My strongest desire is to have a spiritual awakening. I will watch for its symptoms and rejoice when I discover them.

I will have my phone off at work but if you text me I will call you on my break.
I love you all very much.

Wait.. I'm confused. Is Green hair the international symbol of "I'm a lesbian"?

cause when I was young in the 80s.. it was just a cool thing chicks did and kind of sexy. a bit of a "Punk rock girl meets Beverly Hillbillies"

    remember that song?

    I obeyed the laws.
    Turned my life around.
    Got a job.
    Found peace and happiness.
    Somehow passed a psych evaluation.
And most of all I was honest with them and myself.
I am just trying to do the next right thing now and continue my happy new life in recovery.

My buddy is not at work.
I called and he told me he is trying to find a baby sitter because his wife tried to kill herself.
I don't know if that is true or just his idea of a good excuse for missing work on his 3rd day.
Either way I will pray for him.
    I hope everything is ok.
I have to remember I am only able to control my own actions and how I react to the things around me.
I can not control him or his wife or what they do or think.
All I can do for them is try to be a good friend and pray.

    I'm at work now.
I hope everyone has a great day.
I love you all very much.
