For example, let's say your boss called you into his office and randomly beat the shit out of you for no reason. assault and battery, correct?
But say he offered you $100,000 (or a promotion) to not say a word about it, and you took the offer. Charges never filed. Years go by.
But then another new employee gets the same treatment a few years later, and speaks out and presses charges instead of taking the offer. Then numerous employees speak out about having gotten the shit beat out of them by the same boss over all these years, but all took bribes to stay quiet.
Yeah, it was not your fault that you (and all other employees) got the shit beat out of you for no reason, but by taking the bribe and not saying anything, you are allowing the boss to get away with it. If you had not taken the bribe and instead spoke up about it, the abuse could've stopped with you.
Are you applying this logic to the Cosby situation? Because I think it's a bit different. He literally drugged and raped women. Not that him being famous should have anything to do with it, but I understand people being hesitant to come forward. It's scary and new and they probably don't want to deal with it. Having a public force behind you can help motivate rape victims to come forward. It is a HUGE big debacle to deal with court and lawyers, and some people would rather forget.
For stuff like Louis C.K. proposing/exposing, I completely agree with where you're coming from. Those women were 100% given a choice. It is absolutely bizarre to me that people would claim they've been abused when they willingly had sex in exchange for something. That's not rape. That's prostitution. -

Exactly. I'm not applying that argument as much to the Cosby situation, it was more directed to the "casting couch" type deals. But it still applies.
I'm not trying to blame the victim here but this whole #metoo movement stinks of "I agreed to sex with someone and regretted it later"

"Women can't control their emotions" is not an excuse. If it is, we should be able to excuse the rapes themselves because the man "was not in control of his sexual desires."I mean that there was likely a palpable but not explicit threat and it allowed him to pay these women off and continue raping them with no fear of retaliation.
You assume they could have reasonably dropped everything in their lives pursuing doomed charges against a beloved millionaire. Then his lawyer says that they can either have a bunch of money and never have to talk about their experience again, or they can relive it in a courtroom many times over while they go bankrupt and probably still lose. Your expectations of these rape victims just aren't realistic.
It's not a coincidence that most of these victims took the money: there was coercion involved. A rape victim isn't in the mindset to be handling their legal affairs, so when some jedi puts the squeeze on them, they give. Painting the situation as though they're enabling him with full cognizance doesn't apprehend the full scope of his crime because when they were given the choice, it really wasn't presented as a choice at all.
Look, if it was my choice (and if the system was 100% fair) I'd have convicted rapists executed by driving a metal spike from the anus out their mouth. It's a despicable crime that needs to stop. But people need to take responsibility for what they're doing. That's what's wrong with the world today.
Taking money, especially if it's a large amount, means you are giving up your right to complain about what happened to you, regardless of how bad it was.
They took the money because it was easier.
If people want to take the money, fine, but I don't want to hear them bitching about it later. -

I think you are perfect. -
2018-04-29 at 9:18 AM UTCBill Cosby is old.
he's on house arrest
He went "Hey Hey Hey" to mock the reporters while he was walking past them.
this dude gave rape pills (something like roofies) when he raped them. this guy might even be responsible for murdering people as well.
I remember when he would do shit on Seasame Street when I was a young boy. "Me and elmo has some koolaide for you" -
