    is this a lucrative hobby?

You should collect up all the roadkill off the highway and harvest their furs.

You can have a dog/cat/squirrel/possum/groundhog/raccoon blanket, dawg.

If you're REALLY lucky, you can find some HUMAN FUR to add to the mix.

You can pile up all the dead animals outside of your mobile shed and rip all their fur all their smashed bodies. You gotta scrape their rotten skin off the underside and tan it then sew it together.

You should start a whole new business model off it. Your material is free. You're only investing time and energy AND you're helping the environment!

ROADKILL MOCCASINS AND PANTS DAWG. FUCK YEAH.

POLECAT POLECAT is a motherfucking ferret [my presentably immunised ammonification]
a king sized fox comforter has to have at least 12 fox skins plus a 50% markup so we are looking at 2500-the manufacturing cost- the hide tanners cost- the fur buyers cost leaving you with about 300.00 for your hides unless you intend to tan the hides yourself skipping the tanners fee and getting right to the manufacturer's you might see 150 to 200 per hide maybe

ever since I did that quest in one of the baldur's gate games where you have to collect human skins to weave them into a patchwork coat, I've thought that it would've come out awesome in real life

this idea would yield a similar result and a whole lot less prison time

I want 10% of the profit because I trade marked the name ROADKILL. If you give me another 10% I’ll come on as your first investor and COO. This is a good deal, don’t delay before anothe young company catches my eye.
