It isn't a literal translation of black but it is sort of a mispronounced word that anglo's overheard french or spanish people say the word Negro (masculan for of the word dark) or a slang word for dark. they never even pronounced it right in english. Knee Grow. so something like a french person or spanish person was saying "Nay grow" and some stupid hill person who was uneducated said "Knee grow" and this reciprocated and then the guy said "nigger" when the latin person stated Nay'qore. niq'ar (or something close to that)
it means ignorant by it's own action of mispronunciation.
