what is the most ideal position for a bathroom?

   curious to know everyone's thoughts. my apartment has the bathroom right across from the entryway, with the living area directly to the right of it. this seems like a bad position, seeing as the living area is where people are most likely to gather. if i had it my way, i would have put the bathroom toward the rear of the apartment, past the kitchen.
