So i noticed someone logging in to my email recently, all I have is their device type, IP address, and when they logged in. Any ideas how i can find this person.

Usually, when this happens to me, it was me on another device. I don't know if that is your situation, but I would make sure of it before pursuing them if I were you.

I'm not an expert on internet trespassing, but I would ask who hacks someone's email from their own cell phone without knowing how to cover their tracks. That might point you in the right direction, or at least clarify what kind of person you're dealing with.

dunno maybe. cant think of anyone but who knows. i doubt this guy is some super hacker or some shit. the only thing i can think of is they must have somehow gotten a keylogger onto my machine (cant imagine how) or someone saw me typing my pw either in person or on cam. i already destroyed my old machine to be safe and got a new one but i dont want to change the password on my email until i catch this fucker.

It wasn't an easily guessable password was it?
  9. #9
    Fermat Yung Blood
it was a 16 character randomly generated betanumeric password with uppercase and lowercase letters, symbols, and numbers

did you by chance use the same password on other accounts and told somebody for some reason? like letting them access that other account, then they checked to see if that same pw worked on other accounts you have.

i reckon if you had the skills needed to do that you wouldn't need t come and ask. that's some highly technical shit.

maybe think up an email you can send that would likely provoke a reaction from anyone who saw it.

lol like send an email talking about how i fucked a horse or something and then see if theres a noticeable change in the mood with anyone i know. hahaha. thats good but id rather just get their exact gps coordinates and surprise the mother fucker

no i mean it would be easier if you had a suspect, but mention something about them that they would be hard pressed not to react to. its obviously harder if you've no idea tho, it might not even be someone you know. if that's the case your best bet would be to just change your pw before any real damage is done.

in case it is someone you know tho, something more subtle and believable like a message to a mystery 'boyfriend' could easily get them out the woodwork.

not generally. malware is binary code, a video file is just data - the only way to get it to run would be to find an exploit for the media player they use to view it, meaning you need to know what media player they're using (the specific version) and find a working exploit. The fact that they're using an Android phone means you'd also need to get through all the security and sandboxing.

Typically the police would take the IP address and subpoenis the ISP to find out who leased it at the time of access, and there are ways to 'social engineer' your way into that information but you need to know exactly what to ask for which is specific to the provider.

I'd recommend doing some research into the IP address - it should be easy to tell which country/provider owns it, which will hint at whether it's someone you know or just a password guess.

    1. Based on the first segment of the IP address, find out which registrar (RIPE, APNIC, AFRIC etc.) owns it at https://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv4-address-space/ipv4-address-space.xhtml.

2a. Go to the registrar's WHOIS link on that page. If it times out, the link may be out of date - search for <registrar> WHOIS. Enter the IP address in the WHOIS request field to retrieve the IP range's registration details.

    alternatively

2b. If you're using Linux you can simply use the whois command from the terminal (usually part of the dnsutils or inetutils package):

    $ whois 8.8.8.8

I won't go through all the details it returns (either method should get you the same data) but it should return the IP range that the address is a part of as well as the company name, address, country etc. You won't be able to get any more specific information (ie. the actual person/account using the IP address) this way.

    Maybe something like GeoIP lookup.

No point even bothering if the IP is in Sud Afreeka or Abkhazia

The IP might be a proxy server.
