How do you organize your thoughts?
-
2018-03-07 at 1:55 AM UTCAt present, when I need to take note of something I scribble it down on a Post-it and put them wherever I expect I'll see them. As you can imagine, this gets messy. I've written 10-15 page papers in sticky notes on the wall. If I ever decide to live with a person, this will be a problem.
I also make liberal use of the Notes app on my Mac and iPhone because they sync easily and formatting is simple. I still manage to make this pretty messy. It might be time for a change.
How do you organize your thoughts? Do you keep a notebook? Do you use an app? -
2018-03-07 at 1:57 AM UTCI make a list of things I need to do otherwise I forget to. Beyond that I let my thoughts organize themselves.

I find that, if I don't get them out into the world somehow, they just repeat on a cycle. Sometimes one thought is exchanged out of that cycle for a different one, but I'm dealing more or less with the same set of ideas (I couldn't tell you just how many) more or less. It's not just boring or mentally congestive, it's downright maddening, I need to write that shit down. -

2018-03-07 at 2:03 AM UTCin all seriousness, when i come up with a good idea (which is always one of two things: a funny thread idea for NIS, or a plan to hurt women), I'll write it down in my notes app on my phone.

This is how it started for me, and now I have hundreds of notes in whatever order I made them. Every now and then I make the mistake of going through them and commenting or updating, which really jacks up the order of my shit. I've tried to consolidate them to the best of my ability, even deleting where necessary (which I usually consider anathema) but I'm a note hoarder. I've never thrown out a sticky note that I didn't photograph or copy somewhere else first.
