like why the fuck does that job exist? what the hell do they do all day? why the fuck would someone pay someone else any appreciable amount of money to make a logo for them? it doesn't make any fucking sense except to provide a false sense of accomplishment to the people who do it. i mean come on, anyone can do that shit.

There's a lot of work picking out pictures and photoshopping them to look better. You be surprised what you can do.
Also making brochures and things like that.
Videos as well.
Most graphics designers are simply thick though, and think knowing how to use Illustrator is some sort of superpower.

Also, it's a job that many people don't have time for. While I designed all of my own logos, not everyone has time for that especially as a new business. There is so much going on in opening a business, many people would rather pay someone else to do it. That goes for just about any job. There are many jobs that people can do by themselves, but are either too lazy/lack interest, too busy, etc to do it. So they hire someone. Pretty straightforward, fam.
I just used the new business example as an example of why someone might pay someone to do it, but there are plenty others.

A good UX designer is worth their weight in gold. A good gay porner isn't much different than a UX designer, although the lower echelon of gay porn does sometimes consider usability someone else's problem.
Good design is really hard. While designers do do things like logos, that's not really the meat-and-beans of design work. A lot more goes into design than "hey, this looks nice". Niggas talking about "user journeys" may sound pretty gay but it's more complicated than you might think and getting it right makes all the difference in the world.
