Recently I watched Breadwinner. It's on Netflix, and it's a cartoon about this little arab girl who lives in a taliban controlled area. Things happen, and she ends up dressing up as a boy so she can do basic things like buy things at the market and get water from the well. The language in it is pretty PG, despite having some very brutal scenes. Does the whole sweet/tragic thing well. Best movie I've watched in a good while, I think.

I have recently been reading about the economics of France during the 1800s, and I was very interested in the first modern department store, called Le Bon Marche, which opened up in Paris in 1838. I started to read a book based off that store, called The Ladies' Paradise. And then I found out that the BBC had made a series (which was cancelled after season 2) about the store, called The Paradise.

I'm currently watching it and it's definitely not the best show the BBC has ever made (there are some shitty actors in the supporting cast for example, and the dialogue is spotty in places, like a lady calling a main character "utterly chaaaaaaaaarming") but it also seems to have a lot of potential. It basically focuses around a very daring and astute businessman trying to expand his store, The Paradise. That plot itself is very interesting to me. And there's something nice about watching a sort of "middle of the road" show that got cancelled.

    HTS highlight reel
King of the Hill. It's a wholesome cartoon sitcom about life in texas. I liked it because it's sweet and funny.

Alternatovely: Rampage. It's about a dude going on a shooting spree. I liked it because I was bored and sometimes it's nice to watch gratuitous scenes of mindless violence being committed against innocent people.
