    Each click of the old man's beads seemed to signify a passage of conscience. Before him, the market square seemed as if a painting: it did not look back at him, and the motion was for him to observe. He might have been invisible. Yet who is to say he was sat there? None but the old man. The sea had been a sad recollection of a journey long forgotten, now replaced by his low seat on a street of Hong Kong. 28 years but he was a visitor here: he was not permanent.

    did you write that? I did a quick search and couldn't find a source. it reads a lot like one of Borges' stories

    I do like Borges a lot. Idk I kind of wrote it stream of consciousness real quick and tried to imply a greater story.
