The Humanity Star is basically a big shiny disco ball, which will be the brightest thing in the sky around dawn and dusk, when it catches the sun's rays and reflects them. It is not expected to be visible in the middle of the night, when it will be occluded by the earth, but it might be partially.
Tracking information is on the website.
Lots of people are getting salty about this already, and claiming that it's space junk, etc. -
2018-01-28 at 8:17 AM UTCi wouldnt say its space junk. More space danger. But realistically its nothing.
I say space danger because it will illuminate the planet (potentially, to other species) and it could turn ugly if "others" find us.
I say it is nothing because it is most likely a minor disturbance to those on earth and will not reflect enough light to make it interesting or worth investigation by other species. -

i think if they're that advanced and capable and have those sorts of intentions towards us then not having this thing in our sky is unlikely to cause them to not notice we are here.
