It's not a matter of worth. It's a matter of dedication.

Thanks. It's the first thing I say when I wake up and the last thing I say before I go to bed. I also say it at the top of the hour every hour as well as 2:15pm and 7:45pm, and once in the middle of the night when I wake up to pee.

I discovered &Temple of the Screaming Electron while leafing through a popular anti-establishment magazine in late 1989. The ad was on the last page, on the inside, a glossy pic of the Temple with the caption, "Knowledge is Power", which I found appealing. The phone number was posted underneath this. I dialed in while still holding the magazine. But I had already been an avid BBS user for years before that, and was a frequent member of many popular sites of the day. We didn't have any web browsers or search engines or any WWW at all, so all we had was these BBS nodes.

There was a huge war between the pro-WWW users and the anti-WWW users. The majority wanted things to remain as they were and were very vocal and frustrated in that they thought Totse should not move to the Web, that it would become flooded with insincere contributors, that it would become diluted and irrelevant if converted to an Internet-based platform. Other members encouraged the move, insisting it would only improve and widen the knowledge base.

The only thing that would make it worth it is if he got paid. I know I did. Ask Bill Krozby...
