Many VGA monitors?

  1. #1
The old 26" TV which I had on DVI from my Linux computer has broken. I'd like to make some sort of video wall with about 12 ( 3x4 ) small cheap VGA monitors I can probably get cheap used.

My graphics card is a 5450 with 1 DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 VGA port. Anyone have any advice on how I could go about this?

I like the whole individual monitor look.

144 monitors, each using 50 watts would be 7.2 killowatts. It'd get pretty warm.

I looked into something like this years ago but didn’t find anything affordable. Amd has some proprietary protocol on their cards for 8 or 16 way splitting (I forget which) but it’s not vga. Otherwise you need a specialized video card(s) with N vga outputs and they were all damn expensive when I looked.

AMD Radeon 5450 HD? Sorry, for what you want to do with it, it's not feasible. That is an extreme low-end card. Get an RX550 for $80 and widen your doors to whatever the fuck you wanna do, assuming your CPU isn't bottlenecking you. Basically, while you might be able to tweak your way into doing what you want, to do it right, you need a better GPU.

ah, thats true. I totally disregarded that. He could clone over to several displays (what is done on Display 1 is done on the others, too) by daisy-chaining splitters. Really shit way to do it.
