I literally do
If their empathy level is low they would have absolutely no difficulty in lying
If their empathy level is high they are more likely to lack introspective abilities
A "6" out of 10 for one person means something else to another
One person's intuitive "definition" of empathy is different to another's
Empathy is fluid depending on the situation and the object of empathy
Why am I explaining this shit to you -
2018-01-17 at 10:48 PM UTCThere are levels to this shit

theres no reason to lie here, is there?
a rating being subjective just means TO THEM they believe they're a 6/10 empathetic or slightly higher than average (5/10 is assumed to be average). no one said its perfectly correlated. it can be interpreted as "how much do you feel other people's emotions". this is how every self-report test ever made works as well -
2018-01-17 at 10:56 PM UTCsploo your "opinon" would be taken more serious if you knew the difference between "your" and "you're", like egad man I'm surprised you are even in community college.
Even foreigners have better grammar than you. English is your language, please learn it, dear. -

Now you know why self-reports mean jack shit outside of faggoty social sciences
And yes, you are right, there is no reason to lie. But many people with low empathy (especially the dysfunctional ones) do not think about "reasons" or "intent" for what they do. They just do it
I thought an edgy psycho like you would know this -
2018-01-17 at 11 PM UTCSploo just outed himself as scoring high on the empathy axis
I knew you were a poser -

self reports do work though, they often have good psychometric data, not perfect ofc.. you're a psychologist, your whole value is based on a faggoty social science. i doubt someone like that would lie to themselves more than average for their own views on their characteristics. -

you mean the whole subject of psychology? i agree, it's science that dumb people and women like to major in. that doesnt prevent it from being interesting. the only value psychology really has is that through advancements, the study of human minds could move beyond soft-sciences and into an objective way of measuring people's qualities -

2018-01-19 at 12:04 AM UTCI possess a high degree of empathy, and although I wouldn't try to put a number on it I think you could see me in the 7-10 range at any given time.
-
2018-01-19 at 1:50 AM UTCI don't think empathy is a valid concept, even if you could magically change how you feel you would only be copying your perception of how you think others feel.

That’s essentially the biological definition of empathy, your mirror neurons kick in and cause you to feel what they feel to some extent. You’re basically “copying” them unconsciously
