after alot of thinking and experimenting with sleep deprivation, i've come to believe that the only reason we, and most vertebrate with significant brain size needed to sleep is because of electricity.
becos electrical charges that are required to fire synapses in our brains are costlier in biological terms to generate than atp energies that power our muscles.
our brian is just isnt capable of generating enough electrical energies needed for continuous operation through out and therefore some state of prolonged idleness with lowered rate of electrical consumption is required and so .....
we, and a variety of other big brained vertebrates with significant IQs needed sleep.
