Used to drink it daily. Don't expect too much. Reverse tolerance helps tho. It gets better the more you use it. I suggest using in the 5-7 tablespoon range, which is a lot higher than you'll see people recommend online. Let it steep for a few hours as you watch a layer form on the top, then strain. Add honey and lime. Sip slowly.

Addiction risk is lower than benzos but it's not particularly fun. It's like the most straight-line non-euphoric sedative you're going to find. The up side is there's a history of use in humans of almost a thousand years without worse outcomes than living in a sustenance farming/foraging society in the bumfuck part of the pacific.
You could probably find cuttings and grow it I presume.
I have seen Kava compared to Valerian root, which is available as a tea and oil and even as pills in health food shops and even supermarkets here. I take Valerian when I need to sleep, it's not as mind warping as benzos are, but is much more sediative.
