What type of phone should i buy in the 200-300 range?

Basically right now I've had the same spiderweb crack discount phone for over three years. It runs like shit, looks like shit, and semi-regularly fails to send or receive calls and texts. I put up with it because it is still functional like 95% of the time. If it doesn't work at first i can probably get it to work.
I want something that lasts and will be good for VR. I'm thinking like a galaxy s5 but that thats only because idk what my other options are. I am okay with buying either new or used as long as it's a good phone that will last me at least two years. -

Not going to lie, it's attractive. Where do you see it for 340? On Amazon it is 370. They seemingly don't have any refurbished ones, and I'm not going to trust a random ebay seller for that. I feel very tempted right now though, that thing is powerful.
What are your other suggestions? -

when i first came out of jail i bought a £15 phone from argos that has an sd card slot. i'm convinced that phone was prolly way better than any gaiphone.
