   ive always used youtube-dl via cmd. you have linux so it should be pretty easy to install. unless i missed something and its busted nowadays or something

   i couldn't get it to work before, might try again tho. i got a very buggy system which doesn't help. was wondering if there were any extentions for chromium that worked now. just tried keepvid but youtube seems to be getting very aggressive with blocking dl's lately.

   sometimes you have to check out bug reports on yt-dl. at times youtube fucks yt-dl over and you might not get it working without a hotfix or some shit. but yeah maybe its your system, did you get it working again

   I use an old jailbroken ipod touch with mxtube, then transfer the videos to pc with ssh
   
   A bit complex for video downloads but I rarely need it so I've never looked for anything better

   there's actually a GUI for it if you find the commandline too daunting
