Weed dependency

2017-12-09 at 6:02 PM UTCI've suffered from insomnia since I was 11 years old
The only thing that helps me have a full 7-8 hour sleep is injecting the marijuanas
However I will be moving to Dubai in a couple of months for work to live under sharia
From what I understand getting caught in the UAE with weed is an instant 4 year prison sentence and then deportation
I will have to quit indefinitely
How do I cure insomnia without weed -

I have the exact same problem. If you find a solution, let me know, because literally nothing works for me. -

2017-12-09 at 8:20 PM UTC1. No screen time, food, or exercise an hour before bed.
2. Get blackout curtains.
3. ????
4. Sleep -
2017-12-09 at 8:25 PM UTCHaving a fan cranked all the way up helps.
The droning sound soothes me to sleep. -
2017-12-09 at 8:30 PM UTCFirst off, stop smoking weed now. Let your body get used to being without it. Second, start exploring other means. I'd recommend the obvious and proven choices: 5-HTP, melatonin, and valerian root. A combination of all three is certain to make you sleepy. Cyclobenzaprine, often prescribed for muscle spasms, makes me sleep like someone slapped my head with a brick.
As far as undisturbed 6-8 hours of sleep, I'd recommend you start a heavy exercise routine. Incorporate it into your daily schedule whenever you can. The added physical exhaustion will help you sleep.
Background noise whether it be a fan, Rainy Mood (my favorite) or whatever, helps.
Finally, get into a specific pattern. Go to bed at a certain time every night whether you are sleepy or not. Make your body get into that rhythm. An hour before bed, get under the covers, dim the lights, and do some light reading. Preparing for sleep is just as much physical as it is mental. Avoid smartphones, tablets, etc.

2017-12-09 at 8:35 PM UTCBlue light enhancements are really great for getting your circadian rhythm back on track. They help more than I thought they would.

2017-12-09 at 11:15 PM UTCI would advise against using melatonin pills, they don't really help and actually cause your body to produce less of it naturally.
The best advice I can give besides the fan is to psychologically force yourself to sleep - I do this by trying to block any thoughts and focus on how tired I feel and intensify that feeling then once I notice my consciousness slipping I focus on that and then poof I'm asleep. -
