What would Zoklet look like today?

If it hadn't been shut down in 2014 after Zok got doxed, would it have maintained close to the same level of activity up to this point, or become some 10 posts per day embarrassment?

Put another way, is this site dead because Zoklet's userbase was splintered by the multiple migrations to IntoSanc, RDFRN, LLZ, etc., or because interest in this discussion format has declined as a result of social media, chans and reddit taking over the internet?

both. the former was always going to happen since none of the past admins seemed terribly competent at either hosting or keeping their PI private, and we've talked angrily about the latter a lot in the past

Before zoklet shut down everyone was bitching about how slow traffic was... But it was more than this, that's for sure. I think like any place you'd have seen fluctuations (this community isn't average and being a lot of users go through depression, rehab, trips to the lunnybin, jail, probation, homelessness etc., so I could see that fluctuate a bit more than the average forum), but the community being splintered was what really did it, I think. You have a lot of people that have become attached to totse (and zoklet) who grow up and move on but a while down the road they think of returning... Some get lucky and find this little shithole but even a few regular users from previous sites haven't even got around to here yet... So, yeah, in a nutshell it was zoklet closing along with every other place along the way save for here.

It was definitely the moves that did it, zoklet had the totse archives with the instructionals and shit in it, it had years and years of content so even if most people had left there'd still be the occasional user signing up but we lost all that history with the moves and people just said fuck it, either at the start or after the sixth move, just shitty overall but I'm glad there's still a place that has the original spirit and at least half the degeneracy.

I've been around right from the start, and I can unequivocally state that the single and only reason the community dried up is because of rank abuse of authority, molestation, deletion, editing and general fuckery of valid content, favoritism, stupidity, egos, kidiots posting worthless garbage, and morons bringing feds into the backyard day after day with moronic posts. If not for those things, &Totse, and probably even Zoklet, would still be booming to this very day. There's absolutely no doubt.

There is also the problem in constantly moving around that drug users and mavericks have with actually finding the rest of us. I assumed Zoklet was gonna be around forever because it was there when I was 16. When I was 21 it was gone for a few years and that's how I found rdfrn. Maybe some people are in jail or have girlfriends and kids now.

It has nothing to do with Facebook or 4chan. The internet is rapidly evolving to meet the needs of the space age. Static forums with dedicated topics have limited appeal, even places like 4chan and reddit don't really meet the the needs of an increasingly globalized internet.
