Originally posted by -SpectraL No, spamming is the disrupting of legitimate conversation with worthless and/or annoying garbage. Bill Krozby wasn't posting anything like that. These are very good questions.
Here's your problem old man. You make up your own definitions of words and have a stroke when nobody agrees with you based on the real definition. Let me help you just this once.A spam account is a secondary email account that is used for sign-up pages when people don't want to give their primary email address. The reason people use a spam account for sign-up is because some sites sell email addresses or bombard them with promotional emails that have little or no value.
Electronic spamming is the use of electronic messaging systems to send an unsolicited message (spam), especially advertising, as well as sending messages repeatedly on the same site. While the most widely recognized form of spam is email spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam, junk fax transmissions, social spam, spam mobile apps…
Now do you see why people snicker at you? -
2017-11-29 at 12:33 PM UTCBut the truth of it is, sploo and bling and Scron were really banned for spamming. Bill Krozby was the only one banned for posting non-spam content in the Spurious forum, while everyone else was permitted to do exactly the same (except for sploo, bling and Scron, who were banned for spamming). Double-standard much?

Why do you insist on using definitions that you make up? -

No, no. That's a sock puppet account, not a spam account. Kids these days can't even get their derogatory terms right. -

Seriously? Are you kidding me? There is a SHIT TON of threads in Spurious which don't belong there, and NOBODY but Bill Krozby got banned for making them, Lanny himself included. Even Lanny himself created many threads in Spurious which could have been better placed into the topical forums. Just open up Spurious and look for yourself? Go back 50 pages. Scroll forward. Who's names do you see there? How many of THEM got banned for posting those threads? None! This establishes the fact that Bill Krozby's ban was nothing more than a butthurt-ban. And do we really want our community ran by someone who hands out butthurt bans and butthurt usertitles? Just look what happened to Zoklet, and they were doing the exact same thing! Does proven and established history not count for anything? You may think this is unimportant and a waste of time, but I certainly don't. If you don't stand up for the little things, the big things take care of themselves. -

I thought you had a lot of good points when you talked about the administration of the last few sites, but I don't see what's so bad about this one. -

As I mentioned in the thread where I said I was going to start enforcing forum topicality months ago, when people post content in the wrong forum I will move it, tell the person who did it, and politely ask them to post in the correct forum instead. I did this for Bill Krozby probably over a dozen times. He was banned after refusing to cooperate. No one else has taken particular issue with me moving their threads or demonstrated a continued unwillingness to use the relevant topical forums when they've been pointed out. Well I mean bling sorta has (posting HB content anywhere and everywhere after being asked to stop) and he was also banned briefly for that. -

Answer this... What if the person was not Bill Krozby but someone you hated like say TDR. Would you still be on your bandwagon? -

Cute... and convenient. Well, let's see the usernames of just 3 users, other than Bill Krozby, you "told" and "politely asked" not to post topical forums in Spurious. And the chronic spammers don't count, as they should have gotten automatic bans without needing to be told anyways. Name 3 users, who aren't spammers, who you "told" and "asked".
Also, if you "warned" and "moved" the threads of everyone else, why is there hundreds of topical threads right now, from dozens of different members, still in the Spurious forum? If what you say is true, which it most certainly isn't, shouldn't those threads have been moved? And why is there multiple threads over a period of months, created by the same users, if you "warned" those users? Shouldn't they have bans on their account as well? But they don't, do they? Of course not. The only user who conveniently ended up with multiple bans is Bill Krozby, the one who you personally dislike.
So you see, your story doesn't hold any water, Lanny. Maybe your Fun Bunch BS works just fine on everyone else, like benny and Speedy and Kolokol, but it doesn't wash with the likes of me. Because I actually keep score. I keep track of truths. I make note of facts and observations. I don't shoot from the hip. Now, do the right thing and clear Bill Krozby's ban list, kid, and restore all usertitles back to their default state, and stop molesting valid content. Your personal "feelings" have nothing to do with the proper management of the BBS. -
