Well a lot of bitcoin purchasing avenues incur a significant cost (coinbase's transfer fees are absurd for example). On small orders it can negate the price difference of DNMs. -

I think it's like $10 a transaction on coinbase, on a hundred dollar order that's 10%, I'd consider that pretty bad. Also the security benefit is a bit dubious, if you can be tied to the purchase (ala you send a photo of your ID to the agent selling you bitcoin and pay with your own credentials) then that traces back to you just the same as if you had used paypal directly with a vendor. I guess the hope is that vendors are less likely to get busted because tor and their own paranoia but that's not a given. -

The purchase can't be tied back to you so easily if you tumble to a place that doesn't require ID and don't do it on your IP. Like, if it really matters, you should be doing this. -
