   We only fart once in our lifetime. Any successive "farts" are just, as you've made mention of, stages of the initial fart.
   
   So when someone asks did you just fart, you can without lying say "No, Chad, I didn't just fart." Then do a disgusted eye-roll at Chad's ignorance.
