you know this thread actually has a good point though. Both transexualism and transhumanism, at least in so far as we're to take either as a serious philosophical position and not a mere aesthetic or legal trifle, are founded in a fundamental rejection of human essentialism. Both erode our image of ourselves in the world as innate and propose another, although in both cases poorly formed, image of the self as antecedent of the world.
It's ironic then that these camps find themselves generally opposite in modern politics. Yet another example of the fundamental ignorance of philosophical concerns in public discourse: debate is mistaken for a game wherein moves are made towards some assigned rather than natural end as opposed to a dialectic wherein natural consequence alone is sought.
