the point is to make things easier to find if you're actually looking for something, ie. common topics or even just trying to find a thread you remember reading or posting in.

I expect it has a bit to do with SEO as well but that's kind of a moot point with registration closed

Oh, it IS, though. Most times, the beauty is in the simplicity. The scope of "knowledge is power" is certainly actionable, and has purpose. The goal is self-evident.

Well, obviously, registration should be opened, for starters; you can't share knowledge without users and fresh input. Secondly, so much off topic posting shouldn't be allowed in the specialty discussion forums, as that kind of liberal attitude dilutes, floods and buries knowledge. Thirdly, if you are running an information war, you need leaders, so fair and reasoned forum leaders should be appointed, in order to further organize the effort.

Unless it's obvious or I personally care about my own thread being easily seperated from the chaff, I post it in spurious.

No matter how technically specific it might be, if I don't care about posting my mathematical thoughts in the mathematical forum, neither should you. If you feel the mathematical forum should contain a thread resembling my mathematical thread which I posted in SG, please make one and be merry.

To me, spurious = here's something I was wondering or thinking about, talk about it if you want, or don't, whatever.

The topics forums are= I am really interested in this and hope to continue discussing it with anyone else also interested in this.
