Years-long cyclical quandries

2017-10-19 at 9:35 AM UTCRepeating and revisiting things that had been 'conquered' for years, back again and seeming brand new

2017-10-19 at 9:55 AM UTCLike history repeating itself?
Kind of related maybe, this reminded me of a thought I had earlier when I was perusing ancient torture apparatuses online, of what the people of these times, where these devices were fairly commonplace and used frequently in punishment, often to absurd lengths, would think of our times and methods.
Not to say there isn't modern day torture obviously, but back then it seemed so accepted. Bring your wife and kids down to the Sunday Funday Brazen Bull Extravaganza! Enjoy the food and fanfare as three convicted WITCHES are cooked alive inside our hollow brass bulls, a fantastic chorus or moans and wails for your listening enjoyment!!!!
I want to know 1- what these populations would think of our current day justice system and 2- WHY aren't we torturing at least the worst of our convicts in this manner?
I guess I could make my own thread but tee-hee! -

I suppose you could argue a few hours or days of tremendous agony is better than a life of mental misery, but then go ask how many lifers would choose to die over serve their time. They can do it privately in the comfort of their own cell if they so choose, and most choose not to.
Ahahaha. Ahhhh. Medieval torture.
I need to study it far far more. Who was being punished? What were their crimes?
I laughed above because I was thinking about what it would be like in say 10 years if we (U.S.), today, implemented an automatic death sentence for anyone currently serving a minimum 20-year sentence or higher, and for any and all repeat felony offenders as well as first time rapists, murderers, sex offenders, and animal abusers. Lol
Would our population decrease from the automatic deaths or would it increase as more people choose to not risk crime and wind up staying free and making more and more babbies?
Would there be far too much outrage from family member's not wanting to see their loved one's executed for things like multiple felonies or beating up their puppy?
Could we MAKE AMERICA GREATER THAN ITS EVER BEEN by putting criminal activity to a standstill through swift judgements and an IRON FIST?
Tell me. -
2017-10-19 at 10:24 AM UTCNo you just can't control people that much. Ppl pretty much do what they wanna and luckily it is rarely outrageous.

Perhaps because there's no threat to them of being contained inside a barrel full of water, head exposed and painted in honey and sugar, on displayed as invites for the insects and a laughingstock for the casual passers-by, oh so slowly being eaten away by maggots and skin creatures, force fed day in and day out to maintain their life, their diahrrea and piss encompassing the bin of water in which they sit, infections, bloating, parasites parading through their sogged and discolored skin, all the while conscious and aware of their surroundings, their agony and TERMoil.
We put a few Johnny "I love red flag touching babbies" Smith's in those barrels I'd like to believe we could hinder a fair amount of future misbehavior. -

A more effective way would be to monitor people better. Trackers in cars, cameras in all public areas, and all males from 14-34 have to wear tracking devices at all times (they do basically all crime). Also no jedis allowed to work in anything related to finance (they do basically all the remainder).
Of course the problem with stopping criminal activity is it would put the criminal justice profession out of work. -
2017-10-20 at 12:19 AM UTCNobody wants to stop crime, certain groups just want a monopoly on it

five years from now a new age of inquisition will begin, brain scanning tech will become readily available to the LEOs and criminals and suspected criminals will be put to the
Question.
Administer the Question. -
