2017-10-05 at 4:18 AM UTCI have been using a jetpack mobile hotspot for some time, and i ran out of data last night, but I can still pretty much do anything on YouTube. New videos play. Everything keeps working. I can open it in a new tab. But no other sites work. What's up with that?

2017-10-05 at 4:22 AM UTCcan you send your dad an email though

2017-10-05 at 4:30 AM UTCno idea. maybe you have a separate data pool for 'popular' sites like youtube, facebook etc. or maybe it only blocks access to new connections when you hit your data limit - any connections that were already open remain so until they time out
I've never heard of it happening beforeth ough -

We'll see isn't this interesting then? Maybe we can all learn something. I googled 'sites still work with no data' and there was nothing.
Regarding your popular site comment, I tried Facebook and Reddit and Twitter and ESPN
None worked. But I learned google search works, but none of the links it comes up with work. -

the simple explanation is that youtube pays your isp/telco to give you unrestricted access to it.
thats what net neutralitians had be arguing about. -

May be correct. My ISP with this is Verizon. Is my online search too broad or is there evidence of this very thing happening? I can't find anything.
I know it's not that big of a deal, I'm just sightly amused I sit here streaming music and vids when I shouldn't be able to. It makes me smile. -
2017-10-05 at 3:35 PM UTCI've had that before but not on a hotspot. Weirdest shit ever.

i just duckduck ''net neutrality argument'' and took the first result :3. Privilege Special Services: Certain important Internet services require heavy and uninterrupted bandwidth use, such as medical services or VOIP. ISPs want to give special preference to these unique services that could benefit from special treatment, and possibly could not exist without this preferential treatment. This is one of the key arguments in the Verizon/Google Proposal of 2010.

I'm glad they consider YouTube an important thing. Gmail doesn't work for me, so it's not exclusively google keeping their sites open.
It's still working though, which is all that matters. Its like getting free HBO as a kid. Except YouTube, as an adult.
THAT BEING SAID, I wish tinychat worked like this too for me. Oh that and I'm a sad man for even having to rely on data. My Kali HaXx didn't work for whatever reason and I fucked up my debts with the main ISPs here that essentially provide unlimited.
I've bean living off of hotspot mobile data for like 6 months. Seriously retarded of me. Its so expensive and stupid.
All that aside, I'm going to go rob an ATM then robe a grown man after we shower together tomorrow morning in his money that he gives me for no reason other than I sold him a fake babe Ruth rookie card signed, for 8 BILLION duckets. (Dollars, for you non prison lyfe cucks.) -

thats becos you and your clicks are important to them, now they can bragg that they have more clicks than anyone else to the advertisers and charge them more.
you wouldnt believe how much the russians are paying for their ads.
anyway like i said initially ... telescreen services are free. becos NSA will still be able to track your whereabouts and whats going in your mind [based on what you watch] despite your data has expired. -
