Elk, deer etc can be kept for months easily in a deep freezer but they require like 20+ minutes of slow defrosting. For the sake of convenience, I keep them in trays big enough to rotate in my microwaves, but there's only space for 1 at a time and we usually cook a bunch so we have leftovers. So it's useful to have 2.
I didn't buy 2 on purpose and for that reason though. The first one worked fine but a popcorn bag stopped rotating in it and exploded into smoke. Under normal circumstances I would have thrown it out rivht away, but I left it out for the smoke to clear up and bought another one in the mean time, and it turned out that the first functioned just fine, it just needed a clean. Now I have two microwaves. -

Can't you just like, plan ahead and let them thaw naturally in your fridge? or should I say, one of your several fridges? -
