I don't want to sit here and count words, nigga. I am a penguin. A penguin that hates counting. One time, this guy was counting, so I swam away. It was cold. There was a polar bear, but -SpectraL wasn't around to fight it for me. Penguins aren't fish, by the way. Why penguins, anyway? Overrated. People say we look like butlers. Fuck those people. Who's ever actually seen a butler in person anyhow? I bet you haven't. I eat fish.

The cockpit lit up with the glare of a thousand tracer rounds, exploding in the darkness of the night sky.

    "Bogey, 12 O'clock"

Redrum looked up from his instruments and stared at the back of his partner's head. Tux didn't respond for a moment, then nodded.

    "We're being painted."

He looked up. Tux didn't move a muscle. His heart rate was stable on Redrum's screen.

    "They have a lock."

Tux did nothing. A few seconds passed.

    "Missile launched".

Redrum listened to the humming engine, which drowned out the radio.

    "Incoming. 5."

    Tux remained motionless.

    "4."

    Nothing.

    "3."

The blip on the radar got evrr closer.

    "2."

Tux nudged his stick forward just a hair, then back. The cockpit flashed as the enemy's burst flew overhead.

    "1."

Tux slammed the throttle forward, fired two controlled bursts, and careened into a barrel roll. Redrum saw two red glares in the canopy, a small one followed by a large one, and two blips disappeared from his radar.

The radio lit up with whoops and cheers. Once again, they had gotten the first kill. Tux stared ahead, silent, and manoeuvred towards another hostile.

    -

Another night, another battle won. But celebrations were muted. Thunderbird and 5Speed had gone down, and once again, Tux had overshadowed the entire squadron. Redrum saw him sitting in the corner, toying with his salmon.

He walked over to his partner.

"You know it's not your fault, right?"

    Tux said nothing.

"Every single person in this building is glad that you're in here. You did way more out there tonight than anyone else could in 5."

He regurgitate the fish into his bucket.

"And you couldn't have saved them."

Tux looked up. There was sadness in his eyes.

    "Noot noot."

you know, why don't penguins get frostbite? They stand on snow for like months at a time.

I actually know this, no Googlerino. There's an engineering thing called a heat exchange pipe,

Basically imagine you have a U shaped pipe, but there is no "gap", the pipes are real close together.

Now imagine hot water goes down one way, over a cold thing, and of course gets cold one the way up (through the other half of the pipe)

Because the hot water is running right next to the "cold" water on the other side, it transfers most of its heat to the other pipe, where water is on it away "up". They have this but in their feet as blood vessels.

So very little heat is lost at the point of contact between the ice and their feet, most of it is given to the "upstream" and kept inside the body.
