I think an account costs around $30 dollars now. The deal is you spawn in a world with other players that you can do whatever you want in. You can turn wood and stone into tools, forts, kill other players, or track them back to their bases and steal all their stuff. You need to "survive" by finding and eating food, defend yourself against monsters and other players, and build a shelter to store all your stuff.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

It is for me. Well actually a friend of mine bought an account for me years ago. We ran our own servers for awhile. Always enjoyed it. It's all very satisfying. Teaming up with friends and killing bosses, traveling to the hell dimension or to The End. Exploring, fighting and griefing other people we find out in the world. Getting super powerful, being "minecraft rich" with all the best gear and buffs. I'm just getting back into it. All I have now is a little farm, a mine shaft and a tiny fort to hide in. -

The "Hell dimension" and "The End" sounds pretty cool. Going to check into it just for that. -
