1916 vs 2016 - clandestine W-18 is all we got

1. #1
What a sad state of affairs today. The world seems to be gripped in fear of household chemicals and Donald trump.

100 years ago people discovered and invented all sorts of scientific breakthroughs while WW1 was going on, its like theres nothing left to discover anymore.

Oxycodone was Invented in 1916 and its still one of the most popular opiates out there, why can't we do something similar 100 years later?.

The only "new" opiate I know of is W-18 but it was invented in the 80's. The only real science left is to figure out how to make the stuff in a clandestine lab.

But it's extremely illegal and the fears of terrorism will stop most people from trying to get the chemicals because they don't want to look like they are making bombs..

BOMBS?!, you think in 1916 those scientists gave a FUCK about bombs during WORLD WAR 1, they weren't afraid to buy explosive risky chemicals. We just won't get great discoveries anymore like Oxy because of FEAR and WAR.. What a mad mad world.

Clandestine chemistry is truly the last frontier.

-methylpiperidylidene-2-methanesulfonamide (W-1)
A solution of methanesulfonyl azide (0.377 g, 3.14 mmol) in 10 ml of ether was added to a solution of 1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridine (0.305 g, 3.4 mmol) in 10 ml of ether with stirring at 25.degree. C. Evolution of nitrogen gas was immediate. The reaction was allowed to proceed for one hour at room temperature. The solid which precipitated was removed by filtration and recrystallized from methylene chlorideether to give 1-methylpiperidylidene-2-methanesulfonamide (0.492 g, 82%)

you have no idea why the government isn't funding the creation of new drugs for you to get high off of? and haven't considered that, maybe, there isn't a need for new opiates, since the existing ones do their job well enough..? i think any new developments would be against addictiveness

that's because the people who would be forced to face life and become strong enough to face failure long enough to discover those things now become insecure as fuck, get coddled and end up on 4chan/tumblr/x hugbox website

What about non poppy based opiates for spacemen. It would be hard to grow a field of poppies on mars.
