anyone got any better suggestion for linux ???

i've used ubuntu once like more than 7years ago but didnt quite like it. my latest experience with linux is a something thats called cdlinux.

bootable from my 10+years old 1gB pendrive and i quite like it and the way its gui and settings were made.

still havent figure out how to install anything, drivers and/or software tho. do all linux support GPT and HDD more than 2gB natively ????

anything else better or should i just stick to winxp ???

Yeah it comes with xfce, which if you don't know is a desktop environment.

do i still need to run terminal to install something and does it support gpt ???

Or you know, you could get Synaptic or whatever the Debian equivalent is called(gDebi IIRC). But you will lose 1337 status.

im not trying to leet. i just want a suitable replacement for my current xp.

for some fancy reasons i fancied winxp64 and now i couldnt find drivers for my soundcard. dont have a decent driver for my display card.

winxp32 is good but needed a driver to get to work on gpt filesystem so that it can deal with hdd bigger than 2tb.

needed backup os for whence things stop working on winxp as more and more new software dont support it.

WinXP has been EOL for how long now? Unless you live in fucking Bangladesh you have no excuse for using XP. I wouldn't do anything with chilled prawns on that XP box of yours, you'll be fucking rekt in no time.

well, which is why i dont have seafood of anykind.

my system, hardware are all bangladesh-grade tho, the motherboard was form like 2007.

my agp, shes 12yo.

which is why i dont favor upgrading to anything later than winxp.

I hear mint is popular with people who want a desktop linux. I haven't run a linux DE in a long ass time so I don't have much experience.

I agree in principle that systemd is evil, although I'm not going to ditch my preferred distro for it. There are real advantages to it, I think people tend to be a little too partisan on the issue although it's understandable why it's upsetting to some.

damn, i thought my 1.25gb machine was bad, lol. i'm running mint which i like as an intro to linux, but i think the ancient machine doesn't enable it to run too smoothly, i get bugs galore atm. i dl'd some movies that were br rips the other day and i can't even watch them coz they just lag like fuck.

but if we factor in the fact that i live in 3rd world country and you being in the 1st, your doing worse than me.

i cant watch anything over 720 too, so everytime i downloaded something 1080 i'd convert them to 720.
