Online radio (Shoutcast, Icecast etc)

   Anybody have any interest in online radio?
   I rarely ever use it, but if I had a boombox with bluetooth I'd tune in everyday.
   Kinda I want to make my own radio station, it would be a mix of talk and music.
   Anybody ever set their own station up?
   
   One thing I dislike about online radio, is that none of the stations I have come across seem to try and create their own unique identity like FM did, like with hosts and the introductory audio and commercials (like imagine AnimeNFO radio with tenga commercials that would be really neat).
   
   There is so much potential for online radio but I feel it's gone underrealized.
   People are just using this as a way to share playlists over the net.

   My coworker at the arcade runs a broadcast every Friday. Online radio is fine, just typically regurgitated garbage or pretentious fuckheads. A good rate personality is hard to find. I hate to say it but honestly the only people trying to make a good online persona and stand out are some older YouTube folks. Even that is mostly insufferable.
   
   Also, if you dig around a bit you can find some online pirate radio tuners. That's a hell of a rabbit hole.
   
   But, back to your point; try it, I guess, but study your contemporaries. There's a fine line from sticking out from the crowd and being pretentious and insufferable.
   
   This is a big responsibility to run one regularly. Podcasts are more accessible. Just make sure that before you commit this isn't a drug fueled flight of fancy.

   There was a time where I was into SHOUTcast via Winamp back in th'day. Winamp would provide loads of radio and TV stations which kept me sane during some grim times. The selection was pretty good from what I remember. Tried hosting my own SHOUTcast station at one point but nobody was interested in it because they're faggots.

   What if i told you, you were probably the faggot. Which is why no one tuned in. Ha! That reminds me, a bit back 8ch/hebe/ did a podcast. It was pretty shit at first but i had high hopes. Hung out with those guys in random chat rooms talking shit. Too bad they were all autismus maximus. The name was Audiophile, which was a good name. They later changed it to Juicebox which is a shittier name, i think they still have an episode or two on jeditube.
