and thionyl chloride). Afterwards, N-alkylation is performed by addition of 1-
bromopentane. The synthesis can also be performed vice versa. Common
precursors are the above mentioned 1-H-indol, naphthalene-1-carbonyl
chloride and 1-bromopentane. Alternatively, 1-pentyl-indole can be used as a
precursor in order to skip the N-alkylation step. -

naphthalene-1-carboxylic acid is made this way. If you do it large enough scale you will have enough precursor to make kilograms of JWH.
