   John Heard died in a Palo Alto hotel after recovering from back surgery he had done at Stanford Hospital.
   
   In a four-decade career, Heard accumulated scores of credits but was particularly known for supporting roles in high-profile '80s and '90s movies such as "Big," "After Hours," "Beaches," "Gladiator" and "The Pelican Brief." as well as Home Alone.

   John Heard is the Dad from Home Alone 1 and 2. he played the husband of catherine o'hara
   
   He was in the movie I suggested Bill Krozby watch (from Scorsese) "After Hours" (which catherine o'hara also played in)

   He had back surgery at Stanford and stayed in a local Hotel in Palo Alto to recover before going home and died? didn't say what from. I mean complications from back surgery? that seems odd. maybe his kidneys shut down or maybe he took to many pain pills and drank a bit. it not like he died in Surgery while on anesthesia which happens in just under 1% of people. It happened a day or two later while resting his back.
   
   I'm sure there will be a followup but now I'm 10 times more scared to get mine operated on and I need it bad.
