2017-07-13 at 11:02 PM UTCWe have a municipal program here. Trash in the black bins and recyclables in the blue. Compost in the green.
The blue stuff gets sorted by paper, plastic, metal, etc and processed at a local factory into bulk materials sold by the tonne for cheap (they buy the blue bin content from the city) I used to work at that place when I was 17 its endless sorting.
The black bins are 75% land filled and 25% used for production of syngas at this high tech multimillion $ facility that uses thermal catalyst assisted decomposition into "green" fuel.
I dont throw much away, I use plastic bags until they are ripped to shreds or contaminated from organics.
We also have a bunch of bylaws about recycling so at work we do our best to recycle but its like wtf do you do with tape? Its plastic right? Or an old pen?.
I have been thinking of ways to use it as packing because my company is too cheap to buy bubble wrap and paper so we use random shit laying around/old cardboard half the time (this is also recycling)
We have these massive rolls of white stickers and you peel them off and most people throw the little paper backing away but I use it to wrap light bulbs lolololThe following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

It creates jobs for unskilled workers and provides an abundance of resources that would otherwise be thrown away and buried in landfill so I dont really care that its a huge scam.
I'm more concerned with mass deforestation for basically the Same products you can make from recycled goods -

Maybe where you live but when I got out of school I worked all kinds of places but I really started to fucking hate everyone and everything around me, NIGGERS AND PAKIS EVERYWHERE I LOOK. My best friend who is currently on life support for trying to time travel with a toaster and a bathtub tells me he got a job just walking in and leaving a resume at this recycling plant. He gives me address and I go there and do the same and I'm hired the next day. We made $12 an hour 10 hours a day and were quickly moved away from the nigger sorting to the PRESTIGIOUS
pre sort area which was all white people and a few black dudes and one chinese guy but there was 10 white guys I worked with. The boss was jamaican and the HR was indian but it was a very chill work place. One of the maintenance guys wall fillipino. I took the bus with Vinny, Derek, John and this hippie guy that smoked weed at the bus stop and more dudes i forgot their names.
I work with mostly white people & mixed race now, my boss and all upper management are white Security is about 50%/50%
I don't give a fuck about people that aren't white, i have more important things to care about.
