    Catholics do veneration.

They pray to saints and Mary mother of Jesus.

That's like a sin called idolatry.

The problem with Christianity is that the Catholics made it popular by force.

That's arguable. I mean we do have records of forced conversions but not really on a scale that explains the pervasiveness of christianity today. there is no real analogue to muslim conquest (the crusades clearly were not an effective means of spreading christianity seeing as the levant is a far cry from christian dominated and a few crusades actually killed more christians than anything else). Constantine was relatively tolerant of paganism. I'd argue the spread of christianity was more or less natural.

catholics are not christian, because they venerate mary as holy and immaculate, which is not true at all. It is idolatry, like the king of china said. Mary was just a person, and was not without sin, and hence not worthy of veneration. Some believe that the veneration of mary is simply a substitute for pagan goddess worship. IDK, but it sure is wierd.

If your faith is based largely on the teachings of christ, you're a christian. Catholics are just as much christians as protestants even though protestants wouldn't consider them proper christians and vice versa. That's the same as saying that all shia's are not muslim because their canon differs ever so slightly from the sunni one. No, muslim is just an umbrella term just as christianity or christians.

Imo, technically being a Christian means believing Christ is the fucking son of God and the savior of which you've accepted into your cringe-heart because He sacrificed himself for your sins so that you may have everlasting life in Heaven. You can believe that, and murder rape torture hundreds of people on a daily basis and still be a Christian because you believe in the sole foundation of what Christianity is built upon.

With that being said, obviously it doesn't or wouldn't SEEM very Christian to believe in God and the Word of God and live a life of blatant, unabashed sin, which is the case for many 'Christians' who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Nonetheless, forgiveness is holistic and no sin (other than blasphemy of the Holy Spirit) is unforgivable, so by all rights and technicalities, you can sin away to your heart's content, ask for forgiveness, and be just fine in the eyes of the Lord.

So basically, to BE a Christian, to me, just means you believe in my aforementioned adage. To ACT as a Christian is an entirely different thing, though one could argue that 'we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God,' so basically at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you are striving to live strictly by the word of god and commit like zero or one sins per day, or you commit a dozen sins a day, because we all fall short and it's all the same.

It's all very cringe and nonsensical, nonpractical bullshit once you really take a step back and look at it for what it is.

    +1 for theology.
