2025-01-30 at 7:41 PM UTCRockets work in a vacuum because they propel themselves by expelling hot gas from their engines, relying on Newton's Third Law of Motion, which states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction; essentially, as the hot gas is pushed out the back of the rocket, the rocket itself is pushed forward, and this process happens regardless of whether there is air present to push against, as the rocket carries its own fuel and oxidizer to create the exhaust gas.

There's nothing for the exhaust to push against, dummy, therefore no pushing occurs. It's like two plus two equals four. Only a born retard who was dropped on his head a few times as a baby would argue the obvious, but there you are. -

the rocket propels forward by expelling hot gases from its engine, which creates a reaction force pushing the rocket in the opposite direction, according to Newton's Third Law of Motion - essentially, the rocket pushes the exhaust gases out, and the exhaust gases push the rocket back in the opposite direction, even though there's no air to push against in space.

Sure, Object A can push against itself, but it's not moving an inch. That would be like trying to lift yourself into the air by the seat of your own pants. Again, in your Wile E. Coyote ACME fantasy world it makes sense, but not in real life. -

object A is the rocket
object B is the expanding gases
atmosphere is not required -

Rockets carry their own combustor and propellant supply to produce thrust in space i.e, vacuum. Thrust doesn't require any external medium. Thrust is just a force created by the expelling mass in a particular direction dumdum.
