    It's a permeable membrane. The argument is that if it doesn't get processed through the gut than any pathogens in the water will KILL YOU if it gets in the eyes, nose, ear, asshole etc which is why you aren't allowed to snort water but I have never seen this logic applied uniformly across mucuousal membranes so I think it's just an old wifes tale

    Get a saline spray if you have any issues with your nose. Mine just gets dry from the cold weather, a few sprays in each nostril makes it easier to breathe for a while.
