Mixing fat and carbs makes you fat

2025-01-24 at 5:05 PM UTCThis sounds unscientific as fuck but it's the truth.
I know to build muscle you need higher insulin to help protein get to muscles, so carbs+protein is best but I'm just talking about being fat.
When I was younger I was an on again off again vegan. So I know you can be thin and eat a ton of carbs. If you substitute smoothies for meals you will lose weight (probably a lot of it muscle) but your pants will get loose if you have the diet and routine of the average American.
I've also done high fat diets, which I prefer now to get lean. So neither one on it's own makes you fat.
But when I was younger I would put coconut oil on an apple and it would make me swell up like a balloon. The coconut oil is high in calories but I could eat as much as I wanted and I know that's keto. But apples and fruit don't have many calories at all and if you add them in you get fat. -

2025-01-24 at 8:58 PM UTCI always figured clean carbs were the carbs the are derived from vegetables than grains.
Like I try to eat less carbs but I don't even think about any carbohydrate content in carrots and corn. Similarly I don't consume sugar but I don't care if strawberries and kiwis have natural sugar in them -

@Cosmopolitan what are "clean carbs"? Stuffing your face with bread like the food pyramid? That's not going to do anything but make you fat and lethargic.
Clean carbs are the food that provide you with the raw energy you need for brain function. Pasta, bread, rice. All the foundational foods you need to have energy and to succeed. There's a reason marathon runners eat carbs before a big race. -

Lol eat two rice sandwiches a day for a week and tell us how you feel. If you're not in a diabetic coma or something.
Bread is a perfect example of carbs+fat though in whatever shortening they used to make it so I can guarantee you're going to get fat af eating mostly bread. Same idea with the coconut oil and apples but most would say that was a much healthier fat/carb combo but it still made me fatter. -

Clean carbs = complex carbs
They are found in lentils, beans, oats, fruits, brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc.
