2025-01-07 at 1:54 PM UTChowdy, i got an XMPP (formerly known as jabber) server up and running. whatsapp is based on XMPP. if any of y'all are looking for an encrypted messaging app that can do voice and video calls, group chats, end to end encryption, file uploads and downloads, and communicate with all other XMPP servers then you should sign up. download a client of your choosing, im on macos so i use siskin IM, also monal is good. on windows you can use gajim but you won't be able to do voice/video chatting. if you are on android use conversations. working on installing a bridge/gateway to enable communication with matrix servers and maybe discord too. so anyways download a client, and click sign up and sign up with username@breakvolt.com and you should be good. logs are purged automatically every sunday so don't fret. oh also if you want to send and receive SMS/MMS text messages and phone calls you can get a phone number for $5 with https://jmp.chat/ which is helpful if you need to harass someone and not be tracked down by police (just kidding don't harass anyone)

you know what idk where/how they are acquiring and then selling these phone numbers but i will try to find out. i will say that the number they gave me was the area code i specified, calls stay connected clearly with no loss of signal even when disconnected from wifi. custom voicemail works too. but like i said this $5 monthly service gets you the cell phone number attached to your XMPP account, it is completely optional. xmpp is free and fully functional without any additional services, i just thought i would recommend jmp.chat because it's been very useful for my use case. -
