2025-01-06 at 8:49 PM UTCWhat are those houses made of if not brick? I've seen some houses on Zillow like this and can't fathom how they can get it so wrong. The pillors look tacky.

2025-01-06 at 8:53 PM UTCIt looks like it's made from metal sheeting but that would only be appropriate for a workshop here, not a house.

They’re framed with 2x4 wood planks, covered with OSB (like plywood made of wood chips) and then there’s a plastic wrap layed over the OSB and then metal or vinyl/plastic siding goes over that.
I’m sure they have stick frame construction in Ireland though -

But yea, most american homes aren’t made of much more than what is basically just cardboard covered in plastic.

2025-01-06 at 9 PM UTCI did the bottom photo quick and dirty in Pinta (Zorin Linux) just to get a general idea of what it would look like but it turned out pretty good.

In my opinion. It looks butt ugly. I kind of get it, but there’s really no reason to have that giant clash of style just to differentiate the garage area -
2025-01-06 at 9:04 PM UTCIf that was my bungalow I'd glue nicer wood to it to make it look like a log cabin, and build a raised flowerbed along the length of the driveway, half a metre high and made of stone.

2025-01-06 at 9:23 PM UTCIf i lived there I'd put cardboard over the windows and hang a no trespassing sign

2025-01-06 at 9:41 PM UTCAnd the bottom one is supposed to be the bungalow? I don't think you know what a bungalow is.
-
2025-01-06 at 9:46 PM UTCI think a bungalow is like the Roseanne house, but idk if you can have more than one story. Either way you're way off and I'm not some architect.

2025-01-06 at 9:51 PM UTCIt must be a nightmare having to fix up houses that are better off being demolished.

drywall and a lot of 2x4's with concrete foundation. Everything else is piecemealed in except for the exterior which is vinyl siding and either asphalt or vinyl roof.
