    most old device have either 2.4ghz or 5ghz wifi so theyre cap at the limit of 5ghz which is like 50mBps or something like that.

    A mistake a lot of people make is using the wrong ethernet cable. You need at least a CAT5e ethernet type cable to achieve the 1GB speeds. The regular CAT5 cable can't do it. Also, the Ethernet adapter needs to be set to 1GB Full Duplex in the adapter's properties.
