Salty Air
It depends. low tide is pew but often it has a interesting and pleasant smell.
Birds lay eggs and when the birds hatch or die the egg shells and low tide is probably what it's like to huff Jenkem
but often the sand and the breeze and the wild flowers combined is a beautiful smell. -
2024-12-27 at 4:13 AM UTCThe salty air fills my lungs. I stand and gaze at the eternity of the Atlantic.

2024-12-27 at 4:15 AM UTCI like Starlings. They're so beautiful in flight and making all of those neato patterns.
Saw some near the Berkeley Marina a couple years ago. don't see them often there in such numbers.
they have Red-winged blackbirds there too. at least the Males are (I think). so beautiful.
Oh, the newest story in the bay area, our Brown Squirrel population are eating some kind of Rodents never seen before. They're murdering some kind of mouse like rodent but not just for competition. They're fucking EATING THEM! -
2024-12-27 at 4:25 AM UTCFuck the beach.

2024-12-27 at 6:58 AM UTCFun fact: inhaling ocean air strengthens your lungs, no matter how bad the smell.

I guess it depends on where you are smelling it, if you were on a desert island in the pacific then I'm sure it would smell divine...if on the other hand you were in some shithole port in India I'm sure it would smell like sheeeeeeeeiiiiite -

I lived on an island 12 miles from where the Gulf Stream and the Labrador Current meet. It still smelled funky. -

2025-01-01 at 4:37 AM UTCSalty Air is just a meaning for funky rotten egg smell.
its usually when Bird Hatchings happen and the water foams up with decayed stuff
It is also corrosive to ships and metal material used on ships. so the combination of corrosion and living organisms and algae and sea weed drying up and foaming on the coastlines is what causes it to be putrid -

Except in the bay area, that smell is from all the human feces washed downhill into the bay. -
2025-01-01 at 4:40 AM UTCI lived down the street for about 7 years from a beach in the bay. it would stink on warm days but the air was super fresh.. no time for smog to form so close to the Ocean.
houses have to be painted a lot on coastal regions because of Salty Air. it damages the shit out of wood siding. I'm guessing Aluminum over time as well.
when I was a kid, Old Victorian houses (Painted Ladies) usually had lead paint and that shit lasted maybe 4-5 years. a lot of houses peeling in the old days early 70s when I was a boy. before enamel or plastic paints came along. -

Not at all Dumb Dum
They wash it into the sewer and the sewer system does lead to the bay however it's treated first. which can stink but with or without street shitters shitting everywhere
Stop being so immature. reclaimed water stinks because of the chemicals they add which causes it to create a sulfur smell.
I also lived near farmland a block away from my house when I lived in East County. lived right on the border of the Stockton Farming region. they just flood fields with shit water and treat it and let it soak back into the aqueduct to feed orchards. stinks to high hell for about 3 days. burns the lungs. -
