DARPA has already figured out how to attach a person's living head to another persons living body and make a new, functioning body, complete with memories and intact personality. Right now, they are working on synthesizing a functioning body from scratch, using cloning technology, so as to attach a person's head/brain to it. They are also attempting to build a synthesized human body out of machined components, so as to attach a working human head to it. -
