What is no cap and why is it better than having cap?

   I dont know what this slang is meant to be but surely having a cap is better than no cap? Or am I just over thinking it?

   Like Jiggaboo said, it means you're not lying. If someone says "cap" in response to something you're saying, they're saying "you're lying." That's why you have to say "no cap" every other minute, so the cool zoomer kids all know you're totes telling the truth.

   To elaborate this comes from the Ebonic term “capping down” or “to cap someone down” (I.e. diffuse (or put a cap on) a situation with a lie)
   
   I think it originated in the southeast but at this point everybody and their mom uses it.
