This long, but is an important video, especially the third quarter, when Rudyard is talking about the alienation that is caused by modernity. This is something Kaczynski went insane over, but he was right. The alienation of people from any sense of belonging, from each other, and from what Kaczynski called the power process.
People who lack any grounding will go insane. This was the case in 2020, when urbanites reacted violently to the covid panic, destroying property, attacking whites, and calling for the destruction of society, all while literally worshipping and praying to some ugly dead black jesus.
The modern culture is in favor of rejecting ones biological humanity and becoming a soulless husk machine brain computer that exists only for the whims of the current economic order

Presumably the barriers are in case Trump wins, as urban leftists will destroy their own neighbourhoods.
Forgetting about Trump (always a good idea), it's a good example of what Kaczynski talks about with with over-socialised soy leftism. They want everyone to be like them, but they themselves are miserable, and destroy themselves in suicidal fury at the slightest provocation, for instance when others reject their civilisational blueprint.
The average oversocialised urbanite doesn't have anything besides their iPhone. They rent, they have jobs working for big corporations they can be fired from at any time for no reason, they have no kids, no family, no firm bonds in any community. No real religion apart from wokeism, a sinister electronic suicide cult that offers no prospect for happiness or redemption. Their labour at work goes into abstract things like writing emails, collating spreadsheets, and "producing shareholder value". They get no thanks, no individual appreciation, and are replaceable and fungible. They are alienated from the power process and from everything that in the past would have made life worthwhile.
