The internet archive/waybackmachine being destroyed forever is a good thing

A good driver/plugin database would be ok I think (authors allowing it), the games and books etc...not so much, that's just pure piracy.

They also have pretty well every single movie in DVD format, going back over 80 years. Giant files, but often well worth the download. Their data storage capabilities must be unfathomable. Maybe they use magnetic tape for storage.

I myself am preserving full rom sets of many systems too…and lets not forget all the Audible audio books I've procured from various sources and listen to on my commute to ensure they are good copies…all in the interests of preservation…

it's not data preservations fault that copyright laws are lame. It's a big conspiracy! they wrote the laws TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM PRESERVING DATA 8tokes*

making a copy of something should not classify under copyright laws [inert objectivist opinions about piracy here]

Exactly. If I walk into a book store and write down the contents of a book into my notebook and then walk out I’m not stealing the book.

Two students recently did that and were charged by police. They took the grossly overpriced student text books into the library and printed all the pages and handed out a link to all their friends. The thieves weren't happy and pressed charges.

This isn't because of the government. They were trying to use this data to push a copyright infringement case through the court, now there is no case because the data has been deleted by hackers.

It's both. they are using it to shut down potential evidence recorded by news sites and or informational sites (at least the more factual and valid ones)

they were trying this years ago but lately as we're getting closer to the Polls, some people were showing evidence of Kamala's and Obama's links to communist activity and Fast and Furious gun runs.
suddenly they're pushing harder for "copyright infringement" however this is the internet and public access is the fault of the creator of the websites. the hosts fucked themselves. its not like it's copyright material that was registered. it was open access and Archive's Waybackmachine is an archiver that takes virtual snapshots but html format or dox or whatever format it records in.

Obama got the "Keys" to the internet in the last year he was President which people though he was going to lock it down or turn it off in the US.

probably the UN has the key (however that works). some code that can automatically shut down most of the internet

    everything is being scrubbed.
it was "hacked" by the commies and they're just going to "shut it down". because "No backup" existed?

now it happens. 21 years (also bullshit.. it existed way earlier) it existed and NOW it happens!

If they erase the internet we will just rebuild it like the usenet days with ham radios and fax machines where you have to dial an IP address to connect directly to an offline portal

You're the one who took an epic scene from South Park and turned it 8ito a chomo activity. Think about it, that chomo thought came entirely from your mind.

its such a bullshit law. the FBI is responsible for piracy

first off.. this is not PIRACY. its copying digital files. its tough shit if the creators cant think of a way to protect it from happening. instead Hollywood and the recording studio and software companies get an instant help from Uncle Sam in the form of leaning on the average civilian for one specific and questionable wrong doing.

its not piracy. its copying. its not forging its copying. just copying. nothing else.

    its a copy

its not a National Security issue its just a copy of a program

but the Government and law makers abuse their powers and aid Hollywood and the Entertainment industry which is unfair to other business
