I'm really nervous being such a huge piece of shit.
They had me full out a registration form and I felt like if it was a test I had failed.
Still I'm hopeful there's a chance I'm wrong and I will be welcomed.
    But if I'm not that's okay :(😔

Good luck with your OCIA! The synodal listening church is for EVERYONE! EVERYONE! EVERYONE! except polygamist Africans

You are not here by chance. The Lord has called you, not only now, but since the beginning of your lives. He has called us all since the beginning of our lives. He called us by our names. We hear the word of God calling us by name. Try to imagine these words written in large letters; and then think of them written inside each one of you, in your hearts, as if it was the title of your life, the meaning of who you are: you have been called by name: you, you, you, you, you, all of us here, me, we were all called by name. We were not called automatically. We were called by name. Let's think about this: Jesus called me by name. These are words written in the heart. Then let's think that they are written inside each one of us, in our hearts and they form the title of your life. The meaning of who we are, the meaning of who you are. You have been called by name, you have been called by name, you have been called by name. None of us are Christians by chance. We were all called by name. At the beginning of our lives, before the talents we have, before the darkness and the wounds we carry within us, we have been called. Why have we been called? Because we are loved. We have been called because we are loved. This is beautiful. In God's eyes we are precious children, whom He calls every day to embrace and encourage; to make each one of us a unique, original masterpiece. Each one of us is unique and original and we can’t even glimpse at this beauty.

Bro, I already don't wanna do this shit. I'm feeling anxious and having second thoughts.
I'm trying to be left alone and not be pestered.
    Maybe I'll just skip it.

Filling out the 1 page form was having me second guess this.
They want to know a lot of information.
Information that my answers for are not the answers that are probably preferred.
    My wife's been divorced.
    The kids not mine.
I'm not confirmed/baptized or that shit.
The farthest I ever took this was reading Bible in jail.
Hi, ex junkie Fona here with his adulteress wife and his unbaptized cut dick ready for kneeling your highness.

They don’t care about that, they just care that you’re willing to “accept Jesus into your heart” and pay a percentage of your income to the church every month.
Organized religion is stupid in my opinion, but it does offer a sense of community that can be really important, especially to those struggling for direction.
Just try not to get molested fona and I think you’ll be alright.

They will want to know everything bro that's how they roll

Keep us updated because I've only seen them indoctrinate children and shit when I was in school so I'm anxious to see the procedure of CLEANSING A TAINTED SOUL

Honestly prepare for the 'you can try but your probably going to hell' talk when you talk to the head priest of the church ur going to

I’ll admit I’m mostly talking out of my ass, as I wasn’t raised religious and haven’t ever been to a church other than for weddings, funerals, or Easter when I was really little:
But I do have an uncle who’s a catholic priest, and he’s repeatedly told me the only thing you need to do to get into heaven is “accept Jesus into your heart”

You don't have to do OCIA to be a catlick, you just need to be baptized. This can be done by independent priests without the bureaucracy of the church, consider looking into groups like the SSPX, FSSP and Institute of Christ the King

The reason for all the questions is because they need to know if your baptism is "legit" or not. It's actually easier if you're unbaptized because you don't have to be "re-baptized" which is different than just getting baptized because they have to also renounce the evil protestant cultists that sullied your soul

The reason they need to know your marital history is because of the rules surrounding Catholic divorce and annulments. If neither of you has ever been married in a Catholic church to a Catholic person, then those rules may not apply to you. However, they still need to ask everyone, because according to the Church, someone could technically still be considered married—even if, legally, they are not.

If he were to begin now he would probably be confirmed and baptized sometime around Easter 2025
But that's the official OCIA route which is the most recommended way. I've heard that the priests are pretty cool even if they aren't the most scholastic theologians they are good priests that know how to do their job well and get people in the doors

I think it's possible to do it without the classes but it probably requires 2x the amount of reading and takes years instead of a few months.

I have also felt the call to conversion but I feel the same way as you, the paperwork is not for me and this modern Vatican II Ape of the Church stuff for EVERYONE! EVERYONE! EVERYONE! is a bit much I just want to wear robes and venerate icons and chant in latin

    Catechesis

"Catechesis is nothing other than the process of transmitting the Gospel, as the Christian community has received it, understands it, celebrates it, lives it and communicates it in many ways." (General Directory for Catechesis #105)

Jesus empowered the Church to continue His mission when He said,
"Full authority has been given to me both in heaven and on earth; go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you. And know that I am with you always, until the end of time. " (Mt. 28:18-20)

This great commission has been handed to women and men, whom God has called, to proclaim the Good News. This ministry of teaching and forming has traditionally been referred to as catechesis.

The name of catechesis was given to the whole of the efforts within the Church to make disciples, to help people to believe that Jesus is the Son of God…and to educate and instruct them in this life and thus build up the Body of Christ. (Catechesi Tradendae #1)

The word catechesis comes from the Greek meaning "to echo the teaching" meaning that catechesis or the teaching of the faith is an interactive process in which the Word of God re-sounds between and among the proclaimer, the one receiving the message, and the Holy Spirit! Catechesis is a life-long process of initial conversion, formation, education, and on-going conversion. Through word, worship, service and community, it seeks to lead all God's people to an ever deepening relationship with God who reveals himself in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Catechesis takes many forms and includes the initiation of adults, youth and children as well as the intentional and systematic effort to enable all to grow in faith and discipleship.

"Meet me after you get off work 3:00 on Thursday and come to door 17 I'll let you in."

Well.... I parked in the wrong spot and my car immediately got boxed in by school buses.

Found door #17 was all the way around the other side of the building.

Rang it 3 times over 5 minutes then I guess school let out and a bunch of kids kept running up to the door and yelling "stranger danger" at me.
Eventually some Catholic school cop came and escorted me to door 16 to wait at an administrative office but that door was locked too.
Some sweaty father let me in to wait and no one knew me and they couldn't get a hold of whoever I was suppose to meet.
I felt like I was on Punkd.
Then she finally answered her phone and said she did not have me scheduled and had left already to go do work elsewhere.
Instructed me to leave my registration form and asked me about classes on Tuesday and if I could do them. I was already uncomfortable on the phone with this woman talking on front of 6 other people all standing around me.
I didn't know anything to ask.
I came here to ask questions.
I could ask questions on the phone at home.
Pretty much just hurried it up and got out of there just as 100 kindergardeners all rushed out the door past me and the Catholic school cop kept looking at me.

This whole thing is too much work.

I'm currently sitting in my hot car with the windows rolled up wishing I was invisible as I wait on all these buses to move.

    What a waste of time.
