drugs like dx'm are either 'freebase', which is just the pure chemical, or bound to a salt like hydrochloride so that it can be absorbed better.
if you compare a gram of pure dx'm to a gram of dx'm hydrochloride, there's less drug in the latter because part of that gram is taken up by the hydrochloride salt

I don't think any of the claims of the different salt formations do anything but if there is any evidence that says otherwise maybe there is idk i'm not aware of any but I would like to see the evidence of this being true
i'm pretty sure the reason it's done is because any other form degrades and oxidizes but the HBR is stable. I've heard dozens of theories about bundy salts over the years and I suspect most of them aren't true
